BORUTO: Naruto Next Generations, the anime sequel to Naruto Shippuden, premieres April 2017. The ninth issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump 2017 magazine (scan below_ reveals that the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime begins with an original story. It was previously announced the anime will be an adaptation of the official Boruto manga, which is published monthly in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine with 40-50 pages of content.
The Boruto manga currently has nine chapters and has just finished covering the content from Boruto: Naruto the Movie. The manga, did, however, begin with original scenes in which Boruto is seen battling an enemy named Kawaki a few years in the future. It’s unclear if this is the original story being referenced in the magazine or if there will be something totally different. We’re excited to see and hope to keep you updated.
